Project 2001 - Free Cultural Websites!

Viewzone Magazine is an internet publication with over one million monthly readers. It has been on-line since 1996. Editor and owner, Gary Vey, has announced a new strategy for this year's Expeditions Series.

Viewzone has offered web design services to any country or culture (tribe, ethnic group or region) who wish to have a major presence on the internet. In many of these countries and geographic locations, there is the opportunity to gain needed revenue from tourism, especially what has been called "cultural tourism."

Cultural Tourism is a new form of travel adventure where individuals arrive in a host country and are then able to associate with the local people, eating and living as they do, and sharing various aspects of eachother's culture and background. Because this kind of travel adventure requires personal involvement and the willingness to be open to new experiences, it is preferred by more educated and culturally curious people. The host country normally will have suggested places where tourists can stay and visit and provide helpful information on the local traditions and customs of the host people. Arrangements and itineraries are usually planned in advance but provide ample opportunities for independent exploration and interpersonal interaction within a safe and controlled environment.

Viewzone welcomes any nation, culture or people to have a tourism website constructed, complete with photographs and tourism information, constructed and programmed  pro bono (free) provided that the host entity can guarantee reasonable safety and basic hospitality (food, place to sleep and work, transportation within reason, etc.) to the Viewzone team (usually two people).

Our Summer schedule includes a visit to Yemen, Southeast Australia (Aboriginals), and the Tlingit tribe in Alaska. We would be happy to provide this service to any culture that submits an outline or proposal.

Please contact Gary Vey, Viewzone editor, at 1-413-584-1413 before April 1st, 2001 or by e-mail at garyvey@viewzone.com. All inquiries will receive a prompt reply.
