Lest we forget

President Obama says he is dead, but millions of people around the world have their doubts. This is true especially in Pakistan, in the very town where Osama binLaden is alleged to have been living for the past six or seven years. Only 1 in 50 believe that Osama binLaden was really killed in the house that was raided by US Seals in a secret comado style operation.

In a recent BBC report, locals claim the man in the infamous video, watching satellite feeds of old Osama documentaries, is a well known neighbor who owned the house that was attacked.

"His name is Akhbar Khan (Han), He owns the house......I know him very well."

Others question how is was possible for Osama to be watching satellite feed when the US specifically stated that the compound where he is alleged to have lived was without any kind of internet, satellite or telephone hook-up, supposedly for security reasons.

While these questions may have logical answers, the facts surrounding this man are often contradictory and based on legend. In his address to the American people, president Obama linked Osama binLaden with the 911 attacks and the deaths of thousands of innocent American citizens. This despite that fact that Osama had never been charged officially with this terrorist act by the FBI and the fact that Osama himself denied being responsible.

In his own words...

Not many people know that right after September 11, 2001, Osama bin Laden issued a statement on tape that he had nothing to do with the attacks on America and that such actions were against the teachings of Islam.

Americans were prevented from accessing this information because we were told that Osama could possibly have an embedded a "secret code" in the tape -- a pre-planned phrase -- that would alert so-called "sleeper" terrorists cells to "activate" and target other American cities.

Here is the transcript of what you were not allowed to hear from Osama binLaden's own mouth:

"I was not involved in the September 11 attacks in the United States nor did I have knowledge of the attacks. There exists a government within a government within the United States. The United States should try to trace the perpetrators of these attacks within itself; to the people who want to make the present century a century of conflict between Islam and Christianity. That secret government must be asked as to who carried out the attacks. ... The American system is totally in control of the Jews, whose first priority is Israel, not the United States." --25

Many believe that the real reason for this statement being censored was because Osama's description of the attacks as being an "inside job" and his linkage of the events with the state of Israel and their treatment of Palestinians.

Later, another video tape appeared to validate his guilt in the attacks. The video tape, showing a man who was allegedly Osama bin Laden discussing and bragging about his rold in the 9-11 attacks, was shown on American television along with Arabic-English translations of the conversations.

This certainly was proof of Osama binLaden's guilt. Or was it?

Regrettably, this tape has since been recognized as a fake. Most news media, having been duped when they originally carried the story, did not report this. As a result, most people still believe that Osama binLaden "confessed" to initiating the 911 attacks.

The "Osama" in the tape was actually a known Egyptian militant who was not as tall and much too heavy to be Osama.

Another problem with the video of December 13, 2001 was that its stocky bin Laden praised two of the alleged hijackers, Wail M. Al-Shehri and Salem al-Hazmi, by name, and yet both the London Telegraph and the Saudi embassy reported several days after 9/11 that al-Hazmi was still alive and working in Saudi Arabia.

Next... The Audio Tape

As conspiracy web sites started to report on this "fake video", and question why it had been made, and by whom, an audio tape surfaced.

The "Osama" voice was apparently saying that the so-called 10th hijacker who was charged in American courts was actually innocent. But the real significance of the tape was to acknowledge Osama's admission of ordering the 9-11 attacks.

Could this tape have been a fake also?

Duluth, MN (PRWEB) May 30, 2006 -- The latest audio tape attributed to Osama bin Laden appears to be one more installment in a succession of evidence fabricated by the US government to deceive the American people, according to Scholars for 9/11 Truth.

"This tape is only the latest in a series of fabrications intended to mislead the American people," said James H. Fetzer, the society's founder. "The closer we get to revealing the truth about 9/11, the more furiously the government fights to conceal it!" He said members of Scholars and other experts had detected evidence of fakery.

The authenticity of the audio tape, delivered to al-Jazeera in the fall of 2002, and verified by the CIA as "authentic", was down-played when the world's leading voice identification experts at IDIAP in Switzerland reported that "the message was recorded by an impostor." (Guardian 2002)

In this recording, a voice attributed to Osama bin Laden asserts that Zacarias Moussaoui was not involved in 9/11, which he knew to be the case because he had personally assigned the 19 hijackers involved in those events. The Osama of this tape thereby implicitly confesses his responsibility for orchestrating the attacks.

Content Inconsistencies

A professor at Duke, Bruce Lawrence, published Messages to the World: The Statements of Osama bin Laden, and expressed profound skepticism about a tape that was released January 17, 2006, in a report that appeared two days later. "There's nothing in this from the Koran," Lawrence said. "He's, by his own standards, a faithful Muslim who quotes scripture in defense of his actions. There's no quotation from the Koran in the excerpts we got, no reference to specific events, no reference to past atrocities." Lawrence also observed the tape ran only 10 minutes, whereas the shortest previous tape, at 18 minutes, was nearly twice as long.

Top Bin Laden Expert: The Tapes are Fakes

As a PhD in Islamic and Arabic Studies, Kevin Barrett remarks, "I hate to say this, but I'll say it anyway. The events of 9/11 had nothing to do with Islam. The war on terror itself is as phony as the latest "Bin Laden tape."

"It's tough to admit because I know on which side my bread is buttered -- and dropping Islam from the 9/11 equation is like dropping my bread butter-side-down. The myth that 9/11 had something to do with has poured millions into Arabic and Islamic studies. I finished my PhD in 2005, so all I have to do is keep my eyes in my pocket and my nose to the ground, parrot the party line, and I'll be on the fast track to tenure.

The trouble is, it's all based on a big lie. Take the recent 'Bin Laden tape', -- please! That voice was no more Bin Laden than it was my late Aunt Corinne from Peoria. I recently helped translate a previously unknown Bin Laden tape, a real one from the early 90's, back when he was still alive. I know the guy's flowery religious rhetoric. The recent tape certainly wasn't him.

The top American Bin Laden expert agrees. Professor Bruce Lawrence, head of Duke University's Religious Studies Department, had just finished a book of translations of Bin Laden's speeches. He says the recent tape is a fake and that Bin Laden has been dead for years.

Ersatz Bin Laden tapes "verified" by the CIA are nothing new. Every Bin Laden statement since 2001 has been deemed questionable by experts. The last we heard from the real Bin Laden were the following words recorded by Pakistani journalists:

"I stress that I have not carried out this act, which appears to have been carried out by individuals with their own motivation . . . I have already said that I am not involved in the 11 September attacks on the United States . . . I had no knowledge of these attacks. . ." (Wiki 2004)

But wait... there's MORE!

Osama bin Laden warned in the final audio tape he recorded before being killed by American commandos there will be no US security without Palestine security, an Islamist website reported on Sunday.

Addressing US President Barack Obama, he said:

"America will not be able to dream of security until we live in security in Palestine. It is unfair that you live in peace while our brothers in Gaza live in insecurity."

"Accordingly, and with the will of God, our attacks will continue against you as long as your support for Israel continues."

"If it were possible to send you messages by way of words, we would not have had to use planes to send them to you.

So the message we wanted to convey through the plane of our hero, the fighter Umar Farouk*, may God be with him, confirms a previous message which had been sent to you by our heroes of September 11." -- message posted on Shamikh1.net, a conduit for al-Qaeda communications.

[*The founder of al-Qaeda said he had tried to send a "message" to the United States through Nigerian Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, who tried to explode a bomb on a Detroit-bound US airliner in December 2009.]

Here, Osama binLaden makes a clear reference to the September 11, 2001 attacks against the United States, apparently implicating himself. And this sounds very believable. Osama's message was clear and consistent with his initial statement, saying that it is because of the Israeli treatment of the Palestinians, and American complicity with this mistreatment, that the whole terrorism strategy has been initiated.

While the Islamic and Arab world do not condone the acts of terrorists, most do feel sympathy towards the Palestinians and resent the continued support of Israel's treatment of the Palestinian people by the US government. From their perspective this is a wrong that must be righted. No ideological argument or international sanctions will dissipate these feelings.

Will we learn from this of continue to fight against people motivated by what they perceive as a great injustice to their Arab brothers? Without addressing the motivation of our foes, we will only have continued violence. What are your views on this matter? Please share them with other readers of viewzone.

Michael Moore | Some Final Thoughts on the Death of Osama bin Laden

Michael Moore, Michael Moore's Blog: "We did exactly what bin Laden said he wanted us to do: Give up our freedoms (like the freedom to be assumed innocent until proven guilty), engage our military in Muslim countries so that we will be hated by Muslims and wipe ourselves out financially in doing so. Done, done and done, Osama. You had our number. You somehow knew we would eagerly give up our constitutional rights and become more like the authoritarian state you dreamed of. You knew we would exhaust our military and willingly go into more debt in eight years than we had accumulated in the previous 200 years combined.... If we really want to send bin Laden not just to his death, but also to his defeat, may I suggest that we reverse all of that right now."
